from Successful Meetings and Smart Meetings

November 16, 2021 – (Park City, Utah):  Park City Chamber/Bureau’s Group Sales/Meetings team has, once again, won a Bronze Stella Award, maintaining the organization’s status as one of the top three Convention and Visitors Bureaus in the Southwest, as voted by members of the meeting planner community nationwide. The Park City Chamber/Bureau’s Group Sales team has continued to receive this recognition for the last four years in a row. The Group Sales Team also earned a Platinum Choice Award from Smart Meetings Magazine, voted by meeting and event planners for skill and responsiveness in assisting planners with their event needs.

Literally thousands of votes were cast from around the world for 278 destinations, hotels and service providers nominated in 18 categories in six regions in the United States and worldwide, spotlighting the very best hotels, convention centers, conference centers, convention and visitor bureaus, destination marketing organizations, destination management companies, airlines and cruise lines. This year, Park City surpassed both Colorado Springs and the Salt Lake CVB, along with two of the bureaus that outranked Park City in previous years – the Phoenix CVB and the bureau at Irving, Texas. The bureaus in Denver and San Antonio also were recognized in the Southwest region. Others recognized with Bronze Awards included the Convention Bureaus of Palm Beach (Florida), Louisville (Kentucky), Atlantic City (New Jersey) and the Silicon Valley (California).

Winners were recognized for achieving overall excellence, professionalism of staff, technology innovations, and other critical aspects of the meetings and event experience. “I am exceptionally proud of our team here in Park City,” notes Tonya Sweeten, Vice President of Group Sales. “Our destination is growing in prestige amongst meeting planners worldwide, but it is our team members who position Park City with world-class professionalism and allow planners to realize our town is a viable option for their meetings and events.” Jennifer Wesselhoff, CEO of the Park City Chamber/Bureau continues, “Being voted by planners worldwide as one of the best Bureaus in the country speaks volumes about the work being done in Park City on a daily basis. These groups are especially important because the majority meet in the Summer and Fall, outside of our popular winter ski season, keeping local employment strong all year long. The Group Sales team was particularly focused on issues surrounding safety protocols for meetings, which is top of mind for all meeting planners in 2021 and is an area where Park City and Summit County lead the way in terms of adherence to the highest standards.”

"A Stella Award is the finest symbol of excellence for suppliers in the meetings industry,” said Lori Cioffi, Senior Vice President and Chief Content Director for the Northstar Meetings Group. "Meeting planning is a methodical process, and attention to detail is a critical factor for success. We've brought that ethic to the Stella Awards. It's a competitive, year-long nomination and evaluation process to identify and honor excellence in the meetings industry. This year's winners are a stellar class."
