But the mountains called. Coming to Park City for ski industry work ("after a stint as a ski bum in Colorado," she recalls), Katy co-owned two small PC-based businesses before taking the helm at Park City Film in 2012. "I majored in American Studies at Georgetown," says the first-generation Chinese American. "Film was important to my understanding of American history, and I've always been fascinated by how family history and each person's unique views create a community’s fabric.”

"Sundance has cultivated a love of indie films, allowing us to curate a range of cultures and perspectives. We are often told we are Park City's window on the world,” Katy notes from her perch running the show at the Santy. “We are a place with big city tastes that loves the quality of life you find in a small town.”

A lover of life-broadening travel, Katy focuses on instilling a love of art and cinema in young people while she and her husband, Canice, "raise two wonderful, film-loving, adventurous girls and our fur baby, Gunther."

"It brings me joy to make art accessible,” Katy smiles. “And as a member-supported nonprofit, we couldn't do it without the community!”
