From Brazil to England to Oregon and finally, Park City, Jamie and Michelle Parker have transformed their international experience into SMMT, a unique brand of lifestyle products with a PC twist. “Our brand is based on ‘koselig,’ Norwegian for a relaxing time with friends and family” reminiscent of Park City’s vibe, Jamie says.
SMMT (Sustainable, Mountain, Marine, and Travel) emerged from their work as Nike executives in Europe and South America. In England, the couple worked with Manchester United, "which coincided with the London Olympics.” Next came the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil. "That's where our children were born and raised," Jamie smiles. "Now it looks like the Olympics are following us home to Park City," he laughs.
Landing in Portland, the family eventually found the opportunity to start a business in Park City impossible to resist. "We couldn't pass up the lifestyle and outdoor community," Jamie says. “We moved here in 2017 and never looked back." Park City's lifestyle harmonized with their desire to launch a personal brand, resulting in colorful SMMT products mirroring our idyllic, aspirational culture.
With days spent on design, updating websites, and fulfilling orders (as well as Michelle's work in local real estate), "We are definitely a 'live to work' couple," Jamie says. "Our jobs are important to our identities." With an 8- and 10-year-old, though, "We are also at the apex of 'family taxi' life," he smiles.
SMMT’s stylish drinkware, fashionable totes and eye-catching wristlets blend seamlessly with the Park City lifestyle of working out, shopping on Main or an spending an evening savoring a gourmet meal. In typical Parkite fashion, the Parkers give back, supporting Summit Land Conservancy through 'One Percent for the Planet.’
“SMMT is a Park City brand where our community can really feel a connection,” Jamie concludes. “But our deepest joy is bumping into someone who tells us the impact our products have on their lives.”
