Growing up in Breckinridge, Scott says, "My parents were hospitality marketers and operators. From 14, I worked in hotels and restaurants, cleaning rooms, washing dishes, and working the front desk." His father, Mark, a founding partner of gCommerce, is a respected resort hotel and real estate leader, even writing a textbook on the industry. "So, I grew up with two early professional loves, marketing and hospitality," he smiles. “They moved to Park City while I was in college,” he says of his folks. “We followed, intending to stay for a year, but we caught the Park City spirit!”
Scott blends his professional passion with love for family, his gCommerce partners, and Park City. "Powder day? I do everything to let my team get in some turns," he says. "I'm a very proud Sunrise Rotarian, a group all community-minded residents should consider." He's also busy with Park City Leadership's Class 29 and their "Let's Talk" community conversation project. With his spouse and teen daughter, you'll also see Scott on the golf course, the mountain and, with the family's gaggle of pets, the hiking trails. "I love the rhythm of our tourism-driven town, all the local events and, of course, our visitors," he says. "Amidst it all, we are still a close-knit group of locals that bind together in a common cause, and I love that sense of community."
"To succeed in Park City, you must honor and embrace those things," he adds. "We must respect the environment we operate in, and always remember we're sharing a small town."
