Give Patrick Fabian and Catherine Semeraro credit – they know a business opportunity when they see one, even at the gym. “Owning a dive shop was not on my mind when dive instructor Brian Frost told me about it during a workout,” says Patrick, who with Catherine, owns Park City Dive Shop. Their New England-born love for the ocean and their natural entrepreneurial spirit led Patrick and Catherine to venture into the dive business. “Until I talked to Brian, it was only a far off dream,” Patrick says. “But here we are!”
But the skiing life and the gorgeous PC summers first drew Patrick here in 2009, with Catherine arriving a few years later. The couple’s eye for adventure includes marriage and family, Patrick smiles. “We married at The Canyons Lookout Cabin in 2015,” he recalls. “With Park City offering so much for families, we’re excited to be raising two boys, Colton, who is five, and a one-month-old named Carter.”
Diving still ranks high on their thrill list, though. Patrick was certified in Australia while in college, and the pair love open ocean diving off Molokai in Hawaii, ogling hammerhead sharks and drifting with the flow of the Pacific vastness. “It’s absolutely beautiful,” Peter proclaims.
Strategic thinkers, they operate spa repair and carpet cleaning companies in PC, “and we’re expanding PC Dive Shop each year, already offering certification programs and plans for dive trips, starting with our Cayman Brac adventure next fall,” Patrick enthuses.
“What we love most about Park City is the community,” Patrick says firmly. “Like-minded people who share an appreciation for nature and preserving it – in or out of the water.” As more people travel and understand the appeal of diving, “I see a strong dive community emerging and growing here,” Patrick says. “We can get people certified and some wonderful opportunities. We’ll be ready!”
