Some Park City stories start with a ski pass. Tyler Knoles' started with a squeegee.
Originally from Bountiful, Utah, Tyler first came up the canyon for summer work, cleaning windows for a friend's company during his off-months from skiing. It didn't take long for Park City to get under his skin. "I quickly fell in love with the mountain town lifestyle, the cooler weather, and everything the community has to offer," he says. As an avid mountain biker, having trails right outside his door sealed the deal. Park City "became home."
Before windows, though, there were skis. Tyler was once a semi-professional skier who worked for RAMP Sports, building skis at their Park City factory during the early boom of the independent ski industry. "It was a pretty unique experience to be involved in the local ski industry," he says.
In 2007, Tyler branched out on his own and founded Summit Window & Solar Cleaning, bringing a white-glove approach to a town he'd come to love. "There's something really satisfying about taking a window that hasn't been cleaned in a long time and seeing the difference it makes," he says, especially that first moment a client sees their view again. "The views are such a huge part of why people live here."
Community runs deep at Summit. Their Shine Forward campaign donates $500 in window cleaning annually to local nonprofits, having already supported the National Ability Center and Swaner Preserve. Their newer Shine Always membership program offers year-round scheduling ease and Loyalty Lock pricing for homeowners.
Away from work, Tyler, his wife, and their son chase the seasons. They love toski and snowmobile in winter and ride bikes and attend concerts in summer. Looking ahead, he's most excited to watch his son grow up immersed in the same mountain lifestyle and community connection that shaped him.
"We're not just here to clean windows," he says. "We want to be part of the community."
