“I’m pretty sure I told my middle school guidance counselor I wanted to be a cosmetologist,” Aubrey Baldwin smiles. The founder of The Club at the Bellemarc Building on Sidewinder operates both Park City Waxing and Summit Yoga from the site, with more on the way. “I’m working on massage, an infrared sauna and maybe a cold plunge,” she enthuses.
Earning a cosmetology license just a few years after that counselor conversation, Aubrey now has decades of experience– from a stint at the Camp Pendleton Marine base, “where I learned to do an impeccable fade in record time,” she laughs, to falling in love with body waxing in Boston. “Every facet of the industry makes people feel better,” she says. “Clients trust me, and we make them feel safe and valued.”
Her adventurous life has taken her far from tiny Mantua, Ohio—“so small we had a ‘Drive Your Tractor to School Day,’” she says affectionately—to the Marine base in SoCal, to managing bands on the road. “I’ve been to all 50 states,” she notes. A visit to Park City in 2018 changed everything. “Without knowing anything about it, I almost immediately knew I would move here.”
Open since 2021, Baldwin is especially proud of the people who share the space, including coworkers Elizabeth Ballstaedt, permanent makeup artist Cat Lawrence, Park City native Andreea Sheranian, and Madeleine Vargas of Breathe to the Beat. “Park City is so community based,” she says of discovering Mountainkind life. “Everyone is willing to support small business.”
She’s also discovered skiing. “I can’t believe how important it is to me. I value it so much! I take better care of myself, too. It’s hard not to surrounded by people who motivate you.”
That motivation is something she aims to share. “The Club, and especially Summit Yoga, is all about getting people through the door—into wellness, yoga, feeling good, and feeling welcome.”
