Dan Warren’s open-handed approach to customers at The Parlor is a concise reflection of Park City’s Mountainkind spirit.
“It’s all about making friends, building relationships, and enjoying great conversation,” he says of the cozy neighborhood bar he opened in May.
Even its location helps tell the story. Tucked into Prospector Square, The Parlor sits amid one of Park City’s largest concentrations of full-time residents and its 24 seats make it feel like a neighborhood living room. “It’s a cozy place to enjoy the company of your friends,” Dan says.
The Parlor is not Dan’s first rodeo; he has owned neighborhood taverns in major cities across the country.“I loved operating bars in New York that were very similar to The Parlor,” he says.
After running a restaurant and bar in Chicago, Dan and his family returned to Park City, drawn by Dan’s fond childhood memories. After a few years of re-setting, Dan was reinvigorated by the youthful business inspiration he found in neighborhood gathering spots in Southern California.
“I saw people laughing, smiling, and having fun,” he recalls. “That’s when I said, ‘This is what I want to do.’ My greatest passion is getting to know people. Everyone has a story. I didn’t want Chicago to be the end of mine.”
That easygoing warmth makes Dan a natural fit behind the bar. “There’s something special about creating a warm, inviting place to gather, a place nearby where people can relax, connect, and enjoy a little time away from their busy lives.”
When he’s not at The Parlor, you’ll find Dan on the trails, at the gym, on the mountain, or spending time with his wife and children. Wherever you encounter him, you’ll find the same curiosity and friendliness that reminds you of the proprietor of your favorite establishment.
“I love to talk, learn about people, and get them talking,” he says. “It has nothing to do with the bar business. It’s just a great way to live.”
